Your friend is struggling

How do you/can you help a friend who is struggling with depression so badly that they shut you out (and maybe others, too)?

You want to help and maybe have tried things, but this time it doesn’t seem to help your friend. You worry and pray for your friend, and keep trying to provide that magic pill that might make the difference. You miss your friend and want them back.

Birds of a feather, flock together

We have all heard that old saying, haven’t we? But have we really pondered the words and the meaning of it?

My thoughts about it are: we feel comfortable with others who think and feel as we do; like-minded people seem to be drawn to each other; birds have wings and fly so maybe we too can successfully soar when encouraged by others in “our group”; a flock is many who are headed in the same direction; we feel safe, protected, and strong within our so-called flock.

There are all types of friends

There is the friend who, after 6 months or more, finally cares enough to give you a call.

Then there is the friend who can’t find their other closer friends to go do something with, and so they will call you.

How about the friend who calls you only when they want something from you.

And what about the treasured true friend who calls you often just because they care about you enough to want to see how you are doing and maybe wants to get together for lunch or a movie or whatever, and then they make a definite date with you to do it.

All kind of friends...and which kind of friend are YOU?

What is a home?

A home can be many things to many people.

A home can be a place where our precious family abides. A home can be a place of refuge, safety and protection from the world and the elements. A home can be a large debt that weighs us down. A home can be a place filled with love, peace, happiness, and God. A home can be a place where we store all the accumulated “stuff”, or items, we have collected all our life. A home can be a fancy showplace with expensive furnishings and such. A home can be a place of learning and growth. A home can be a haven for a friend in need. A home can be a “heaven on earth” for all who dwell therein.

A Wonderful Realization

I whine and cry and feel sorry for myself because I long for a special, close, buddy type friend. I have done this for years.

A few nights ago I had a sudden realization that I already have such a friend.....my adult daughter. Because of our situation, I am around her daily.

She understands me, supports me in the things I do, I feel very comfortable around her, I don’t have to be on-guard with her, we do things and go places together, we bear our heart to each other, we laugh and cry together, we know everything about each other, and we are there for each other.

I am very grateful to my only daughter.....she IS my BEST FRIEND.
